Homeless in Paris for 12 hours

We took an overnight train from Spain to Paris last night. We arrived in Paris this morning at 7am and don't get the apartment that we have rented for the week until 7pm tonight. There isn't any other city that we would prefer to be homeless in for 12 hours.

What city would you pick to be homeless in for 12 hours?

Magda (not George's mom, but other Magda) - we thought we might do some shopping. We need jeans or warmer pants. Have any recommendations?

Now .... please remember, they had huge sales when I was there in June....and I was on a REALLY tight budget so I'm not sure what the prices are really like.

Also - I think Paris is the only city where you can enjoy the store architecture as much as the shopping itself so George, I think you should be ok with the shopping. :) Just look at the walls, the ceilings, the floors.... And Carolyn...shop to your heart's content...and please remember that you are shopping for me as much as for yourself. :) I wish I were there with you!
