Viva Roma!
We are now in richly historical city of Rome for round two. We flew to Rome from Athens on October 31st, and spent 4 days there. Then we went to Naples for 2 days to do day trips to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Unfortunately Carolyn was sick much of the time in Rome, so we are back so we can visit the Vatican and anything else we missed.
We have free internet in the place we're staying, so hopefully we will post more pictures of Rome, and the last week in Greece (and let's not even talk about pictures from Croatia and the first visit in Italy).
So for now, here is one teaser pic...

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Great teaser pic!! :) What did you think of Herculaneum and Pompeii? Pretty amazing huh?
Excellent night shot :) My favourite kind of picture.
We're going to have to have a photo slide show night (or a few) when you get back
I'm not sure how cold it is but...can you PLEASE have a cone of panna cotta gelato for me? Pretty please???
Definitely a very good teaser picture. Are you carrying a tripod around with you on your trip?
That photo says it all: "we were in Rome". No trip there could be complete without a photo like this.
Thanks for all the compliments! I'll be selling my pics for $20 each, or 3 for $50. ;)
Pompeii and Herculaneum were very cool to see. It's a strange feeling to walk through a fairly intact city that has been laying dormant for almost 2000 years. Some of the mosiacs and friezes in Herculaneum were particularly well preserved.
Yes, definitly a plural on the photo slide show nights. We only have 6gb free of the 40gb on our hard drive. Fortunately we met a couple from Vancouver who backed up all our photos up until Athens (Thank you!).
I think I got the panna cotta gelato, and I wasn't a big fan. It had chunks of something in it. But pretty much all the gelato we've had here is superb. Oh, and the tiramisu! To die for.
Tripod, yes. Two in fact. We bought a dinky one in England after a day or two because I needed something. That is in fact the one I used to take the night shot of the Colosseum. But in Prague I was getting frustrated with the limitations of it (it is smaller than my camera, so you can imagine it is not very supportive), so we bought a nice big one that I get to carry around.
