Two pictures from Croatia and an update from Greece

Here is an incompete post that I started about Croatia. There are only two pictures. We have been having trouble connecting the hard drive so we can post more up-to-date pictures.

A night view of the old Town in Dubrovnik.

The cat that welcomed us when we arrived. It was sitting on the bed and was really friendly. It turns out that this cat did not belong to the lady whom we rented a room from. It was just taking advantage of the soft place to sleep.

Where are we and what are we doing right now? We have rented a car and are driving around the mainland of Greece. Right now we are in Dephi. This morning we got stuck in a traffic jam. Why? We were in a long line of cars while there were annoucements and a marching band blocking the intersection. We couldn't turn around because we were on a one way street. Eventually the crowds disperced and we were able to pass. We managed to get to the Museum and wandered around trying to avoid the numerous tour groups. Luckily, it turns out that today was free entrance to the museum.

We then walked back into town in search of food and internet. We found internet and after this post, the plan is to go next door and have a gyros. Hmm! They are George's favourite so we are comparing the different establishments that we find. Now I am really hungry. I think it is time to go.

Looks like you figured out how to beat the long train and/or bus rides.

...And I'm glad to hear that there are still sightseeing tours, so the possibility of open air monuments being open after the end of October is higher.

How was Crete and the crossing back? Aegean sea can be pretty rough at this time of year, I guess.

I hope the Mycenae will be still open. It would be a shame if you missed that.

As you can see I'm doing my armchair travelling :)..... one day I'll see it all with my own eyes - but in summer!!!

Well, I should have checked the mail first and saved you my 'pointers', i.e. my worry that you might skip Mycenae. Phew!

Weather sounds fantastic, so here's to hope that it will continue in Spain and France. After all, what would Paris be without sitting at an outdoor bistro and watching life go by.

Enjoy!!!

Oh! You're going to Paris?? Some tips/hints I learned while there.

Don't forget to go to Galeries Lafayette and Les Primptemps (SHOPPING! You may get lucky and get some sales). How can you be in Paris and NOT go shopping?!?!? You can't!

Buy a bottle of wine, and go sit in one of the little islands in the middle of the Seine and watch the sunset. Thi is better in the summer but you may be ok. :) Your love can keep you warm, hehehe.

Spend a whole day at Versailles - take a picnic. Try not to get lost on the train getting there.

If at all possible - do the Louvre in small chunks. Maria and I only remember a bit of it because we tried to do it all at once. :)

Le Marais (the area) has a ton of falafel places. They're good too. :)

On the other bank of the Seine, right across from Notre Dame, are tons of booksellers. (Or, there were in the summer.)

And last but not least, remember, ANYTHING is made better because drinking on the street is legal, and well, because you're in PARIS. :)

Does each of those comments sound like there's a story attached? That's because there is. When you get back, we'll get together and trade stories. :)
